2012 Abu Dhabi Thoughts
THE BIG PICTURE: The points lead tightens up a bit, but somehow it still looks like a Vettel stranglehold.
EVENT: No champagne for the winner, a huge irony for this year's winner...
QUALIFYING: McLaren moves on top of the pecking order while Red Bull screws up a key measurement for Vettel.
RACE: Banging from start to finish.
TRACK: Who would have thought this track could produce such an exciting race?
START: Raikkonen's great jump ultimately provided him with the victory, Webber does his usual drop down, and the race long banging begins early.
RAIKKONEN: Kimi finally gets his victory after his return to F1. It was only a matter of time.
LOTUS: A well deserved victory, even if it isn't the real Lotus, nor even the Lotus of last year.
ALONSO: Once again, Fernando turns a struggling weekend into a second place finish.
FERRARI: All the change improved nothing on a day they could have gained so much more on Vettel and desperately needed to.
VETTEL: Starting from the pit lane then restarting from the back of the pack, this is the type of race which ultimately wins championships.
RED BULL: They didn't need to put themselves through such a headache.
HAMILTON: This is auto racing. Sometimes the driver who deserves to win doesn't.
BUTTON: Salvaged something for McLaren.
MALDONADO: Lost of KERS may have lost him his podium.
KOBYASHI: Much better than India, but it may not matter for employment next year.
MASSA: Has now moved up to seventh in the standings.
SCHUMACHER: Solidly out qualified by his teammate.
ROSBERG: A wild ride.
WEBBER: Too wild for his own good, even if Mark was ultimately taken out by someone else.
PEREZ: Since he got the McLaren ride, he's been driving worse and worse. Sergio took out a pair and kept going, but he couldn't take out the Stewards.
WORD OF THE WEEKEND: Fuel.
STAT OF THE WEEKEND: 8 -- The number of different winners this year.
QUOTE OF THE WEEKEND: Classic Kimi style, "For sure, we are going to have a good party tonight and after a long night we will remember why we feel like that."
QUOTE OF THE WEEKEND RUNNERUP: Is Fernando Alonso providing bulletin material or rallying the Scuderia when he said, "I repeat, they have the quicker car, we have the better team."
SCHEDULE: Formula 1 returns to America. Will Austin shine or embarrass?
