2005 Cleveland Thoughts
RACE: A put the hammer down, drive as hard as you can race.
TRACK: Once again, Cleveland brings out the excitement of Champ Cars.
QUALIFYING: Cristiano da Matta gets the provisional pole by 0.004 seconds and Paul Tracy gets the final pole by 0.005 seconds. Wow!
TRACY: We have often criticized the Forsythe pit crew for losing more races than winning them for Paul. However, lately, the crew has been outstanding. They deserve accolades and the victory.
ALLMENDINGER: His best race of his career took everything out of A.J. as he was completely exhausted and dehydrated afterwards.
SERVIA: If the race ran the allotted distance, Oriol would have had second.
TAGLIANI: Alex and the gang at Walker continue to gell more and more as time goes on.
BOURDAIS: Despite speed, things didn't go Sebastien's way.
VASSER: Another sixth place.
WILSON: With all the off course excursions over the weekend and during the race, it's amazing Justin finished at all, never mind in seventh place.
RANGER: Bad luck, but a strong run especially when he was keeping up with Bourdais.
SPERAFICO: What's this, Ricardo in the top ten? Well, let's see if this is the start of something.
MARQUES: Tarso is a good driver. However, not taking anything away from him, the fact is Michael Valiante would mean more to Champ Car than Marques. Buy-a-rides are still too prevalent in top class racing, and the fans once again suffer.
MARSHALL: One more time, what is Marcus doing in Champ Cars?
PHILIPPE: Another nondescript race.
WIRDHEIM: Bjorn barely survived turn one, but all that did was turn him into a turn 8 wall victim.
DA MATTA: Ever the gentleman, Cristiano took all the blame.
HUNTER-REAY: This year, Ryan was the obligatory first lap victim.
WORD OF THE WEEKEND: Hot.
STAT OF THE WEEKEND: 30 -- career wins for Paul Tracy, passing Rick Mears for seventh on the all-time list, one behind Al Unser, Jr.
HISTORICAL STAT OF THE WEEKEND: Sebastien Bourdais failed to become the first driver to win three consecutive races at Cleveland.
QUOTE OF THE WEEKEND: After Paul Tracy talked about the great things Cleveland has, Oriol Servia said, "And cool trophies, too!"
QUOTE OF THE WEEKEND RUNNERUP: Paul Tracy on moving up the pole and win career list, "It's either flattering or I'm getting old."
SCHEDULE: To Toronto, the second best street party on the schedule.
