2003 Montreal Thoughts
RACE: Nothing against Michel Jourdain and Team Rahal, but they did not win this race. Alex Tagliani and Rocketsports lost the race.
TRACK: Whether it's F1 or CART, we still can't figure out whether we like this course or not. It has some nice characteristics to it, but it also has some undesirable aspects.
JOURDAIN: Amazing how we are no longer surprised when Michel wins.
SERVIA: Just when you are ready to write off Oriol, he comes up with a weekend like this one.
CARPENTIER: Is it just us, or does Patrick always seem too happy when he does not win a race?
TAGLIANI: We are still trying to figure out how Alex and his team could allow themselves to blow this race.
DOMINGUEZ: Just when you thought Mario was heading back to midpack status, he displays an aggressive and fast race.
TRACY: Paul, tell us what you really think of how your team let you down with fuel.
PAPIS: Are his days numbered, as in needing to use just one hand to count them?
MANNING: It's strange how many times Darren is right up the top of the Sunday morning timing sheets and sometimes turns in one of the fastest laps of the race considering what his finishing position usually is.
SALLES: Stop the presses! Gualter scored a point!
BOSS: Don't stop the presses. Geoff is still slow.
LAVIN: But, Rodolfo is even slower.
JUNQUEIRA: He's literally throwing away the championship. Second place is now in danger.
AMERICAN SPIRIT: So much for the high of the last race.
MONTEIRO: How many more moronic moves is Tiago going to make before somebody pops him one?
BOURDAIS: Where we sleeping or did we miss when Sebastien suddenly started to become just average?
YELLOW: Somebody please explain why it takes forever to restart a race when all they have to do is bump start one spun car.
OVER/UNDER: 17 -- Number of broken suspension pieces from the bumpy track at Denver during the upcoming weekend.
WORD OF THE WEEKEND: Oui.
STAT OF THE WEEKEND: 8 -- (This isn't even a CART stat, but it's so surprising, we had to mention it.) The number of different winners in Formula One this year. Yes, Formula One!
HISTORICAL STAT OF THE WEEKEND: Champ cars did run on a road course in Quebec back during the USAC days at St. Jovite in 1967 and 1968, both times in two heat formats. Mario Andretti won all four races.
QUOTE OF THE WEEKEND: Gerry Forsythe in response to the question regarding his plans for Paul Tracy and Patrick Carpentier if CART fails, "CART will not fail."
QUOTE OF THE WEEKEND RUNNERUP: Bruno Junqueira on Oriol Servia's propensity to keep running into the back of him, "I think he doesn't know very well how to just brake when someone is in front."
SCHEDULE: Time for the drivers to order up kidney belts.
