What do you think Gerald Forsythe is up to buying large
quantities of CART stock? And as a side question, what was the real reason Forsythe parked his
satellite team for this season?
I believe that Gerald's goal is unification of the series. The only way that any growth can be accomplished is through a single open wheeled racing series. As far as the parking of his other team goes, it is most likely tied to the fact that Gerald is limited to two franchises at the present time and the board is siding with the other owners wishes to limit competetive spending to just two teams. This will probably change in the future as Gerald's stock purchase grows.

He is going to buy enough power to force some kind of reunification with the IRL. He could not field another team and still have the money to do it.

Well living in Australia I have a much less well informed view of the whole thing, but this is what it looks like to me:
Forsythe already has a lot of pull in CART. He wants more. He buys CART stock, the more he owns, the more in control of CART he is. Why does he want more control? Perhaps he sees things he can improve on, with which others don't agree, and who knows, maybe he does want Andrew Craig's job at the end of it all?

It's a power play to position himself against Andrew Craig when his contract comes up. I think Forsythe has ambitions for the job, he is definately making the moves. If he can't get the job, he definately wants to get his race in Europe to get on the CART schedule. It's all politics and muscle flexing.
