Houston Happenings
1913-14: One race per day over a three day period.
1947: Postponed one week due to rain.
1948: Horn wins by three laps.
8/76: Only yellow flag was caused by rabbit on track.
4/77: Starting positions determined by draw due to rained out qualifying.
8/78: Drivers of 4-cylinder engines (Offy and DGS) qualified at slow speeds to protest
alledged unequal rules.
1998: Race red flagged on lap 13 due to torrential downpour. Race eventually cut short due
to rain.
2001 (Texas): Race postponed due to physical illness experienced by the drivers caused by excessive g-forces.
2006: Race returned after leaving Houston after 2001 with a new course configuration and location. First night street race in Champ Car history.
