1950 Allard J2 Front View: This car was driven to victory in
1950 by Alfred E. "Erwin" Goldschmidt, who found himself in the middle of one of SCCA's darkest
periods. A Jew, many in the SCCA did not want him to compete. Already not allowed to be a member
of the SCCA, Goldschmidt's entry had to be accepted because that year's race was opened to drivers
from certain other clubs. The anti-Semitic behavior of the SCCA, and the first fatality in the
Grand Prix when Sam Collier went off the road on the second lap, left a permanent stain on the
