Started Out Great: American Jonathan Bomarito lost his Atlantic ride at the last minute when Mathiasen Motorsports was forced to close shop. However, Mathiasen got him a one-off ride at Long Beach with Genoa Racing just before the weekend started. Bomarito started out fast grabbing a front row starting spot. However, his time was thrown out due to a yellow flag infraction, dropping him back to an eighth starting position, and then his car only lasted 12 laps in the race, finishing 18th.
