Prospects Ranking
For Open Wheel Road Racing
August 25, 2010

The August ranking features the top 15 American driver prospects for open wheel road racing. Here is the press release for this month's ranking. The next ranking will appear on September 29, 2010.

  Driver Last Month
1t Conor Daly (Star Mazda)
Continuing to impress is an understatement for Daly. Four more races, four more podiums, with three poles and two wins. Daly now has either a first or third in every race with the exception of one fourth with two races left in the season.
1
1t Alexander Rossi (GP3)
Won his second GP3 race (Budapest sprint) in one of the toughest European series. He continues to be on a path to GP2.
2
3 Josef Newgarden (GP3)
Nearly had a podium in the GP3 sprint race, but had mechanical woes with three laps to go, after moving up 10 spots in the feature race. At times very quick, at other times bitten by racing luck.
3
4 Gabby Chaves (Italian F3)
A long summer break for Italian F3. Chaves returns to action with two doubleheaders before the next Ranking.
4
5 Charlie Kimball (Indy Lights)
Regained third spot in the standings with a third at Mid-Ohio after starting sixth and a second at Sears Point.
5
6 Connor De Phillippi (Star Mazda)
Two good finishes (fifth at Autobahn and third at Road America) and two poor finishes, but still moved up one spot in the standings to fifth.
6
7 Cole Morgan (F2000)
Didn't fare that well at Road America with a tenth after starting ninth and a fourth after starting third. Still maintains the runner up points position.
8
8 Spencer Pigot (Skip Barber)
A second and third at Road America in the ultra competitive Skip Barber National Series keeps Pigot on top of the standings.
9
9 Sage Karam (USF2000)
Karam returned to action with three consecutive wins after a third along with two poles for a total of seven wins in 12 races, keeping him in first place.
7
10 Dennis Trebing (Skip Barber)
A win at Road America followed by a seventh after starting second. He "fell" to fourth after being in a three-way tie for third in the standings.
10
11 Matt Lee (Italian F3)
Lee also enjoyed the Italian F3 summer break. He will return to action at Varano.
11
12 Jonathan Scarallo (F2000)
Despite a 21st spot in the first race, Scarallo had his breakthrough weekend at Road America. Fastest in practice, qualified second for the first race, and then won from pole in the second race.
14
13 Felix Serralles (Skip Barber)
Made the most of his Road America trip, double dipping in Skip Barber and USF2000. He finished fourth and first in the former and took ninth and eighth in the latter.
12
14 Miles Maroney (Pacific F2000)
The Pacific F2000 series continues to be on break. Maroney finally gets to race at Buttonwillow.
13
15t Ashley Freiberg (Skip Barber)
After starting fourth at Road America, she crashed out on lap three. Came back in the second race to finish fifth. Also tried out Star Mazda at Autobahn, but was in the back of the pack all weekend.
15
15t Nick Andries (Skip Barber, Star Mazda)
Returns to the Rankings running everything he can get his hands on. Competed in two Skip Barber races and four Star Mazda races, but his best finish was a sixth at Road America's second Barber race.
